Camp Aranu’tiq Welcomes Chaz Bono to Honorary Board

NEWTON, Massachusetts – September 10, 2009 – Camp Aranu’tiq is pleased to announce Chaz Bono as the newest member of its honorary board of directors. Mr. Bono is an LGBT activist, author, and is the transgender son of Cher and the late Sonny Bono.

“We are thrilled and very proud to have Chaz as an honorary board member at Aranu’tiq,” said Founder and President Nick Teich. “He brings a familiar face to the often hidden issue of transgenderism. We know that he will serve as a positive role model for our campers and for transgender and gender-variant people around the world.”

Chaz Bono publicly announced his transition from female to male in June 2009. He is the author of two books: Family Outing (Little, Brown, 1998) and The End of Innocence (Advocate Books, 2003). Bono resides in West Hollywood, California with his girlfriend Jennifer Elia.
